oklahoma-isp.net
is the new name for the back-end Internet services that have
been provided by Robert Braver for many years, and are now available
to the general public.
Beginning in the
mid-90's, Braver invested tens of thousands of dollars in
network infrastructure largely to provide certain needed services
as public-service to the Internet community as a whole (by
cancelling millions of spam messages on Usenet and operating
one of the top 100 Usenet transit servers worldwide), as well
as to the local community (by managing the norman.ok.us
hierarchial domain, providing DNS service to local government,
businesses, and individuals free of charge).
Long-term clients
include local and nationwide charitable and/or educational
organizations, various individuals, small businesses, and
professionals.
Braver is well
known for his role as an advocate for the rights of consumers
and businesses alike with regards to predatory "postage-due"
marketing practices, including unsolicited telemarketing,
faxed advertising, and email. He has been mentioned in Consumer
Reports, The Wall Street Journal, and The New
York Times and has appeared on a Dateline NBC segment.
